About Traditional Centers

OUR MISSION

Traditional’s team approach blends creativity, academics, and DOE standards. We provide developmentally appropriate learning that empowers children to grow and achieve.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

At Traditional, we believe every child is unique and develops at their own pace. Through hands-on, developmentally appropriate practices, we nurture creativity, problem-solving, and self-expression. We value respect and discipline, and our teachers encourage independence, decision-making, and confidence.

We also believe parents are a child’s first and most important teachers. Families are welcome partners in learning and are encouraged to join in celebrations, trips, workshops, and community events.

OUR HISTORY

Inspired by her passion for protecting and educating children, Moreen A. King founded Traditional Day Care in 1995 in East New York. What began as a one-classroom program grew quickly joining the UPK movement in 1998 and later expanding to Bushwick in 2009. By 2013, both centers became fully publicly funded through ACS and continue to thrive today under DOE’s Birth-to-Five program.
